June
20, 2003 -- One Month Old Shadow continues to grow and change daily.
Shadow is now four weeks old. He is a bundle of energy, sweetness, and mischief
all rolled into one. He is between babyhood and adulthood right now -- he wants
to be very independent yet still wants to cuddle on someone for his naps or when
he is afraid. At this age he bathes in his little tub, plays with his toys (and
with everything else he can pick up), likes to dance on his humans' heads and
pull their hair, adores flying (and he flies all over!), twitters and warbles,
naps on one leg, drinks water by himself, still receives handfeedings, and hates
to stay in his cage. He has his humans well trained, and most of his daytime hours
are spent free in the house being spoiled by everyone.
Tomorrow we will
introduce Shadow to a bowl of handfeeding mixture which we will place in his
cage. As he begins pecking and prying in the food, we will continue to handfeed
him regularly from that bowl. In time, within several weeks to a couple of months,
he will begin eating some food by himself. We are in no hurry for him to wean,
as we know he will do so when he's ready.
Mom said
that if I do not stop tugging on her watch, she will simply have to give it
to me. Of course, that is exactly my plan, for I adore playing with jewelry!
Several
days ago, I began standing on one leg for many of my naps. Dad feels that this
photo shows the only time I am not making mischief lately.
