11, 2003 -- Nineteen Days Old Less frequent handfeedings for a spoiled baby bird.
Shadow no longer requires such frequent handfeedings, and sometimes he will go
an hour with no food. When he is hungry, he will make a distinct two-syllable
cry and will flutter his wings. When I see those little wings fluttering, I know
he is ready to eat. But woe to anyone who tries to feed him when he is not ready
for food! He will fuss, duck, and run if he is offered food when not hungry.
Shadow spent the
entire day out of his cage. We have yet another spoiled little monster who seems
to think he is human and that he simply must be with his humans. He is
determined to be on someone all the time, and he loves being snuggled against
my face or under my hair. He spends a good deal of time preening his pretty
chocolate brown feathers when he is not playing, napping or eating.
I stop
playing only long enough for handfeedings.
Sound
asleep on dad. I'm exhausted from playing all over the living room.
Riding
on my teddy bear on the way to my cage. I've only been out of my cage all
day!
